Improved rolling contact fatigue life for an ultrahigh-carbon steel with nanobainitic microstructure
Scripta Materialia, 2014In the present work, the influence of nanobainite on the rolling contact fatigue (RCF) performance of an ultrahigh-carbon steel has been studied. The results show that nanobainite can effectively improve the RCF life of the steel. In particular, the L10 life of specimens with 21 ± 1 vol.% nanobainite is approximately 3.3 times longer than that of ...

Abstract The bainite transformation behavior after plastic deformation of austenite, i.e., ausforming was studied by in situ neutron diffraction and ex situ experiments, and the effects of ausforming temperature was made clear. Ausforming, at a low temperature (573 K) was found to accelerate bainite transformation and produce a characteristic ...

Effect of isothermal temperature and load on wear of nanobainitic cast steel
Materials Science and TechnologyThe wear behaviour of a nanobainitic cast steel: 0.76C-2.08Si-0.74Mn-0.79Cr (wt. %), isothermally treated at different temperatures, 250 and 300°C; have been investigated by pin on disk test in dry conditions. The tests were carried out at different loads: 2, 7, 12 and 15 N.

Characteristics of Phase Transformations in Medium-Carbon Nanobainitic Steel of High Hardenability
Materials Science and Welding TechnologiesThe article presents the results of phase transformations taking place in steels having a carbon content of 0.55 % and characterised by high hardenability (NBH), intended for the industrial fabrication of sheets. Phase transformations were examined using the dilatometric method under continuous cooling conditions (CCT) and during isothermal holding ...
