Nanobubbles in Solid-State Nanopores

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2006
From conductance and noise studies, we infer that nanometer-sized gaseous bubbles (nanobubbles) are the dominant noise source in solid-state nanopores. We study the ionic conductance through solid-state nanopores as they are moved through the focus of an infrared laser beam.

New Directions in Focused Ion Beam Induced Deposition for the Nanoprinting of Functional 3D Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 11, 5 June 2026.
Here, it is shown that focused ion beam induced deposition (FIBID) using helium and neon ions enables advanced high‐resolution 3D nanoprinting achieving precise multimaterial architectures and engineered internal voids. Thus, FIBID with finely focused noble gas ion species is presented as a unique platform for designing functional nanomaterials for ...

Optical Pulling Force on Gold Mie Particles via Germanium and Aluminum‐Based Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This work demonstrates a novel approach to generate optical pulling force on gold Mie objects of two different shapes and studies the effects for different object sizes, incident angles, and the aluminum tetrahedra separation. Using rectangular germanium blocks combined with aluminum tetrahedra, optical pulling force (OPF) is achieved over a broad ...

Pinning and gas oversaturation imply stable single surface nanobubbles

open access: yes, 2015
Surface nanobubbles are experimentally known to survive for days at hydrophobic surfaces immersed in gas-oversaturated water. This is different from bulk nanobubbles, which are pressed out by the Laplace pressure against any gas oversaturation and ...

Electronic Structure Engineering via Coordinatively Unsaturated Bismuth for Efficient CO2 Electroreduction

open access: yesCarbon and Hydrogen, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 209-216, June 2026.
By adjusting the electrolytic reduction time to maximize oxygen vacancies in the BiOI, which efficiently reduces CO2 to formic acid at industrial‐scale current densities. ABSTRACT Metal‐coordinated unsaturated sites are a common type of pivotal active sites in the area of electrocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2RR).

Stability of Nanobubbles Formed at the Interface between Cold Water and Hot Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite

open access: yes, 2016
For the wider application of nanobubbles, a simple and reproducible nucleation process is not readily available. Here we describe a method for nucleating nanobubbles using only the most basic of conditions: depositing cold water at 4 °C on heated highly ...
