Unprecedented layered coordination polymers of dithiolene group 10 metals: Magnetic and electrical properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
One-pot reactions between Ni(ii), Pd(ii) or Pt(ii) salts and 3,6-dichloro-1,2-benzenedithiol (HSC6H2Cl2SH) in KOH medium under argon lead to a series of bis-dithiolene coordination polymers.

Spin-state-dependent electrical conductivity in single-walled carbon nanotubes encapsulating spin-crossover molecules

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Spin-crossover molecules can change their spin-state under a variety of stimuli making them ideal sensors; however, they are typically insulating and unstable.

Force-gradient-induced mechanical dissipation of quartz tuning fork force sensors used in atomic force microscopy

open access: yes, 2011
We have studied the dynamics of quartz tuning fork resonators used in atomic force microscopy taking into account mechanical energy dissipation through the attachment of the tuning fork base.

Room Temperature In-plane <100> Magnetic Easy Axis for Fe3O4/SrTiO3(001):Nb Grown by Infrared PLD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We examine the magnetic easy-axis directions of stoichiometric magnetite films grown on SrTiO3:Nb by infrared pulsed-laser deposition. Spin-polarized low-energy electron microscopy reveals that the individual magnetic domains are magnetized along the in ...

Size Effects of TiO2 Nanoparticles as Supports for W‐ and NiW‐Catalysts for Selective 3‐Methylthiophene Desulfurization

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
Rounded TiO2 nanoparticles we sucesfully synthesized with modulated sizes from 109 to 22 nm. We observed the WS2 and NiWS active phases forming parallel slabs to the surface. The presence of Ni helped W to be better dispersed, especially on the smallest nanoparticles, which resulted in the highest activity detected among the series.

PROMOTION STRATEGY OF SCIENTIFIC VOCATION IN SECONDARY EDUCATION BY MEANS OF NANOSCIENCE AND NANOTECHNOLOGY DIFFUSION IN COSTA RICA

open access: yesMomento, 2013
Current strategies in education leave nanoscience and nanotechnology aside from the process of learning the scientific method, thereby omitting a large portion of contemporary empirical knowledge. It is thus desirable to familiarize students in secondary

Expression Profiles of Exosomal miRNAs in Gaucher Patients and Their Association With Severity of Bone Involvement. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Inherit Metab Dis
ABSTRACT Bone manifestations are one of the most prevalent complications in patients with Gaucher disease (GD). Bone involvement is evaluated by using imaging methods, and there are different scores to assess its severity. However, there are no biomarkers that allow us to predict these manifestations.
