Enhanced Electroactivity for Overall Water Splitting and Oxygen Potential of Pt/Carbon Nanotubes Functionalized with Cu Organometallic Complex

open access: yesEnergy Technology, EarlyView.
Functionalizing carbon nanotubes (CNT) with the mesitylcopper (Cu‐mes) complex modifies the surface of CNT, developing Cu‐Pt alloys and Cu‐species. The result is a modified Pt electronic structure that promotes the catalytic activity of the 5 wt% Pt/CNTCu‐mes nanocatalyst for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions, and oxygen reduction reaction.

NANOSCIENCES AND NANOTECHNOLOGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

open access: yesMomento, 2018
Sustainable development considers as a central axis the set of external physical, chemical, and biological components with which the living beings interact and which, with respect to the human being, comprises the set of natural, social and cultural ...

Responsible Research and Innovation between \u201cnew governance\u201d and fundamental rights [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This chapter frames RRI as an emerging governance approach in the EU regulatory context. We argue that reference to fundamental rights makes RRI a distinctive approach to responsibility compared to other existing paradigms and that human rights, in ...

Synthesis of Sulfated Sn–Zr Mesoporous Catalysts for the Selective Dehydration of Hexose‐Type Monosaccharides

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
The synthesized SO4/Sn–Zr–SBA‐15 shows high activity in fructose‐to‐5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) dehydration. Acid sites with positive synergy effect between metals and SO4= improve catalytic behavior Synthesis of combined Brønsted and Lewis acid sites in SBA‐15 by Zr and Sn incorporation onto the mesoporous support, followed by a sulfation procedure ...

Spin-orbit signatures in the dynamics of singlet-triplet qubits in double quantum dots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We characterize numerically and analytically the signatures of the spin-orbit interaction in a two-electron GaAs double quantum dot in the presence of an external magnetic field.

Carbon Nanotube‐Supported Mo, Ni, and Co Nitrides as Stable Catalysts for Levulinic Acid Conversion: Influence of Metal–Nitrogen Interactions and Confinement Effects

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
Nitride‐phase catalysts (MxNy/CNT) are active in levulinic acid conversions. Ni3N/CNT shows the best performance due to hydrogenation‐active sites within and on the surface of CNT graphene layers. The CNT support also enhances the Ni3N phase stability, maintaining catalytic activity over multiple recycling tests.

Structural and Transport Properties of Thick and Thin Cr2AlC Films

open access: yesphysica status solidi (RRL) – Rapid Research Letters, EarlyView.
This study compares structural and transport properties of Cr2AlC thin films (50 and 500 nm) systematically disordered by ion irradiation. Columnar grain growth is observed only in 500 nm films, while both films exhibit a weak fiber texture. Kondo scattering from displaced Cr atoms leads to a resistivity upturn, with distinct magnetoresistance in each ...

Chemically‐Linked Heterostructures of Palladium Nanosheets and 2H‐MoS2

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The photoresponse of MoS2 devices is extended to the near‐infrared region (up to 1700 nm) through chemical connection to Pd nanosheets (PdNS). A maleimide is used for covalent connection to MoS2, and a phenyl bromide moiety for linkage to the PdNS. In the absence of the chemical linker, van der Waals heterostructures show poorer enhancement of the ...
