Improvement of water absorption behavior and mechanical properties of woven jute fiber‐reinforced epoxy composites with waste eggshell filler

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
This study investigates the influence of waste eggshell powder on the water absorption and mechanical properties of jute fiber‐reinforced epoxy composites. Optimal eggshell filler content (2 wt%) significantly enhances composite performance by reducing water absorption and improving mechanical properties.

Effect of Nanoclays on Moisture Susceptibility of SBS-Modified Asphalt Binder

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Moisture susceptibility plays an important role in the damage of asphalt pavement. Failure occurs when asphalt is removed from the aggregate particles due to the decreased adhesion between the asphalt and aggregate in comparison with that between water ...

High electrically conductive composites of Polyamide 11 filled with silver nanowires: Nanocomposites processing, mechanical and electrical analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Highly conductive composites of silver nanowires and semicrystalline polyamide 11 for different content were prepared. A newmethod was developed to introduce nanowires: a combination of solventway and an extrusion process.

The Combined Effect of Gas Phase and Condensed Phase Mechanisms in Flame Retardancy of Polybutylene Succinate

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, EarlyView.
A combination of DOPO and APP flame‐retardants results in a V‐0 UL 94 rating. ABSTRACT In this study, we addressed the challenge of eliminating, during combustion, the flaming dripping behavior of polybutylene succinate flame retarded with ammonium polyphosphate, a key barrier to achieving a V‐0 rating in the UL 94 flammability test without excessive ...

Thermal Degradation Kinetics and Flame‐Retardant Synergy in Zinc Borate/Red Phosphorus‐Filled Thermoplastic Polyurethane Composites

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, EarlyView.
The synergistic interaction between red phosphorus (RP) and zinc borate (ZnB) enhances the thermal stability and flame retardancy of TPU by forming a dense, stable protective char layer. Non‐isothermal kinetic analysis confirms a complex degradation mechanism governed by conversion‐dependent activation energy.

Bisphosphonate nanoclay edge-site interactions facilitate hydrogel self-assembly and sustained growth factor localization

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Nanoclays have been used in composites and for drug delivery but have suffered from a trade-off in properties when used for both. Here the authors report on the use of bisphosphonate interactions with nanoclay edges to made drug loaded composites without
