Nanocontainers for Self‐Healing Coatings [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, 2016
This progress report covers recent achievements in the development of nanocontainers for self‐healing corrosion protection coatings. The functionality and design of Layer‐by‐Layer‐assembled, polymer, and inorganic nanocontainers are demonstrated in the coatings for protection of steel and aluminium alloys.

Liquid metal nanodroplet dynamics inside nanocontainers [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2013
Here we report direct observations of spatial movements of nanodroplets of Pb metal trapped inside sealed carbon nanocontainers. We find drastic changes in the mobility of the liquid droplets as the particle size increases from a few to a few ten nanometers.

Nanolabels Prepared by the Entrapment or Self-Assembly of Signaling Molecules for Colorimetric and Fluorescent Immunoassays [PDF]

open access: yesBiosensors
Nanomaterials have attracted significant attention as signal reporters for immunoassays. They can directly generate detectable signals or release a large number of signaling elements for readout.

Conceptual, self-assembling graphene nanocontainers [PDF]

open access: yesNanoscale, 2015
We show that graphene nano-sheets, when appropriately functionalised, can form self-assembling nanocontainers which may be opened or closed using a chemical trigger such as pH or polarity of solvent.

Chitosan–Alginate Nanocontainers with Caffeine as Green Corrosion Inhibitors for Protection of Galvanized Steel

open access: yesCrystals
The introduction of new regulations needs to develop eco-friendly systems to prevent corrosion. In this work, a natural corrosion inhibitor caffeine (CAF) was encapsulated in polysaccharide-based nanoparticles, capable of the responsive release of CAF ...
