Biocompatible Protein Nanocontainers for Controlled Drugs Release

ACS Nano, 2010
We designed a biocompatible carrier for controlled release of hydrophobic drugs. The designed carrier was prepared by sonicating oil in a protein aqueous solution forming a protein nanocontainer composed of an inner gel core and an outer protein shell.

Active Anticorrosion Coatings with Halloysite Nanocontainers

The Journal of Physical Chemistry C, 2008
This work contributes to the development of a new generation of active corrosion protection coatings composed of hybrid sol−gel films doped with halloysite nanotubes able to release entrapped corrosion inhibitors in a controllable way. A silica-zirconia-based hybrid film was used in this work as an anticorrosion coating deposited on 2024 aluminum alloy.

Communication: Superstabilization of fluids in nanocontainers

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2014
One of the main challenges of thermodynamics is to predict and measure accurately the properties of metastable fluids. Investigation of these fluids is hindered by their spontaneous transformation by nucleation into a more stable phase. We show how small closed containers can be used to completely prevent nucleation, achieving infinitely long-lived ...

Silica nanocontainers for active corrosion protection

Nanoscale, 2012
Novel self-healing protective coatings with nanocontainers of corrosion inhibitors open new opportunities for long-term anticorrosion protection of different metallic materials. In this paper a new type of functional nanoreservoir based on silica nanocapsules (SiNC) synthesized and loaded with corrosion inhibitor 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) in a one ...

Controlled-Access Hollow Mechanized Silica Nanocontainers

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2009
A new category of mechanized nanoparticles, consisting of a hollow mesoporous silica spherical framework controlled by a supramolecular system containing the alpha-cyclodextrin (alpha-CD) ring on a stalk that is tethered to the pore openings on the nanosphere, is synthesized and tested.

Nanocontainers as Corrosion Inhibitors

2022
Metal corrosion is an electrochemical degradation process whose consequences adversely impact the structural integrities of material structures upon interaction with different environments. To reduce this scourge, recent developments in coating designs have incorporated additives capable of providing stimulus-responsive functionalities toward self ...

The effect of interlayer spacing on the inhibitor release capability of layered double hydroxide based nanocontainers

, 2020
Layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanoparticles are utilized as nanocontainers for reserving corrosion inhibitors in order to construct a controlled release system with targeted delivery of inhibitive compounds on the corrosion sites of metal.

Tannic complexes coated nanocontainers for controlled release of corrosion inhibitors in self-healing coatings

Electrochimica Acta, 2019
Nanocontainers with controlled release properties have been used in self-healing coatings for many years. However, the spontaneous leakage of the small molecular weight inhibitors from the nanocontainers promoted the development of nanovalves or ...

Carbon nanocontainers for gas storage

Nanotechnologies in Russia, 2009
Various types of nanocontainers that can work if there is a change of thermodynamic conditions or a change in the external electrostatic field are presented. Using the molecular dynamics method, the processes of charging, storage, and discharging various nanocontainers with hydrogen and methane are investigated.
