Flexible Pressure Sensor With Co‐Optimized Sensitivity and Linearity Based on Gradient Toroidal Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible piezoresistive pressure sensor with gradient toroidal CNT/PDMS microstructures is reported. The hierarchical geometry enables sequential electrode contact, achieving a sensitivity of 256.20 kPa−1 and linear response (R2 = 0.99) over 0–1000 kPa.

Testing and Simulation of Multilayer Polyvinylidene Fluoride‐Based Piezoelectric Energy Harvester Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The study considers the use of polymer/dielectric‐based multilayers piezoelectric Energy Harvesters (EH) to produce an output voltage and current, by exploiting the mechanical energy provided by human organs movements. In particular, the heart motion is considered from the kinematic viewpoint, and a multiphysics theoretical model is developed to assess

On‐Chip Saturated Absorption of CO2 in a Silicon‐on‐Sapphire Waveguide

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate the first saturated absorption of a molecular gas on a planar photonic chip. By coupling carbon dioxide with the tightly confined light of a silicon‐on‐sapphire waveguide, we achieve optical saturation using only milliwatt powers. This breakthrough provides a practical, low‐power foundation for creating ultra‐compact mid‐infrared ...

A 3D porous nitrogen-doped carbon-nanofiber-supported palladium composite as an efficient catalytic cathode for lithium-oxygen batteries

open access: yes, 2017
Palladium/porous nitrogen-doped carbon-nanofiber (Pd/PNCNF) composites with a three-dimensional (3D) network structure have been prepared by decorating Pd nanoparticles onto PNCNFs, which were derived from KOH activated polypyrrole nanofibers.
