Ionic rectifying effect is a unique ion transport phenomenon observed in certain types of nanofluidic devices and cannot be implemented in microfluidics. Analogous to a diode in solid-state electronics, these diode-like nanofluidic devices can be used to turn the ionic flow on and off depending on the polarity of the applied electric-field.

Nanofluids are a new class of fluids engineered by dispersing nanometer-size structures (particles, fibers, tubes, droplets) in base fluids. The very essence of nanofluids research and development is to enhance fluid macroscale and megascale properties such as thermal conductivity through manipulating microscale physics (structures, properties and ...

Nanofluidics: Fundamentals and applications
TRANSDUCERS 2009 - 2009 International Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems Conference, 2009The paper gives a brief overview of nanofluidic theory, with an emphasis on transport processes in nanochannels. It subsequently reports on recent progress in nanofluidic research in the BIOS/Lab-on-a-Chip group, especially DNA electrophoresis in 20-nm high nanoslits, AC electroosmotic flow in nanochannels, and two-phase flow in nano/microfluidic ...

Chaos in Nanofluidic Convection of CuO Nanofluid
2017This paper deals with the nonlinear stability dynamics of nanofluid convection under magnetic and temperature variation for Copper Oxide (CuO) nanofluid, which is used as coolant in heat transfer applications. The system comprises a cavity in which the fluid layer is subjected to external magnetic field and heat exposure.

Abstract Nanofluidics is an emerging research field, which deals with fluid flow on the nanometer scale. It is being boosted by the ongoing development of nanotechnological tools and techniques, and it contains the potential for both basic research, e.g. an improved understanding of the limitations and ultimate breakdown of the classical
