Meniscus‐Guided Soft‐Lithographic Assembly of Grid‐Type Molecular Martensite Films for Single‐Crystal‐Like Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A meniscus‐guided microtransfer molding strategy enables scalable fabrication of grid‐type molecular martensite films with b‐axis‐correlated preferential texture. Sequential growth across microchannel intersections creates structurally continuous grids and robust thermoelastic actuation (∼11% strain, > 50 cycles, maximum force density: 7.1 × 109 N m−3).

Azobenzene's Cross‐Scale Optics and Photonics: Molecular Photoswitching, Mesoscopic Material Motions, and Adaptive Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Azobenzene photoswitches translate molecular‐scale E/Z photoisomerization into macroscopic material responses and device‐level photonic functions. This Review highlights how azobenzene research has evolved from molecular photochemistry to photoalignment, mass migration, photomechanics, and heat release, ultimately enabling holography, reconfigurable ...

Nanomechanics of collagen microfibrils [PDF]

open access: yesMuscle Ligaments and Tendons Journal, 2013
Collagen constitutes one third of the human proteome, providing mechanical stability, elasticity and strength to organisms and is thus the prime construction material in biology. Collagen is also the dominating material in the extracellular matrix where its stiffness controls cell differentiation, growth and pathology.
