Fish Scales: A Multifunctional Biomaterial from Nature

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
Fish scales demonstrate nature's solution to impact protection through overlapping multilayered architecture. This biological design combines mineralized surfaces with collagen networks to achieve both flexibility and fracture resistance. The structural principles inspire advanced protective materials and biomedical implants, where damage tolerance ...

Unraveling the Electrocatalytic Performance and Structural Stability of Ag Nanowire Gas Diffusion Electrodes for CO2 Reduction

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
Silver nanowires (AgNWs) catalyze CO2 reduction into CO with high selectivity both in the three‐electrode cell and in the zero‐gap electrolyzer. While catalytic currents and selectivity are stable over hours, the AgNW shape undergoes restructuring and its surface chemistry changes.

Bifurcation of *COOH Pathway Determines HCOOH Formation in CO2 Electroreduction on Bismuth

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 31, 27 July 2026.
Driven by the mechanistic debate of Bi‐catalyzed CO2‐to‐HCOOH conversion, ambiguity remains regarding true reaction pathways. To resolve this, we combined constant‐potential AIMD simulations with spectroscopic evidence to analyze the competitive pathways.
