Zn-Porphyrin Nanoring as a CO Gas Sensor: A Fast Response and Short Recovery Time Sensor [PDF]
The butadiyne-linked four-metalloporphyrin nanoring (Zn4P4) is a promising candidate in future nanoelectronic applications such as nanosensors for small gas molecules.

Optical Enhancement by Gold Nanoring-Nanodisk Plasmonic Structures for Light Sensing Applications
We design and numerically model a 3D nanoring-nanodisk structure and evaluate the effect of the ring and the disk radii size within the presented structure on optical enhancement.

Single-Acetylene Linked Porphyrin Nanorings [PDF]
The synthesis of ethyne-linked porphyrin nanorings has been achieved by template-directed Sonogashira coupling. The cyclic hexamer and octamer are predicted by density functional theory to adopt low symmetry conformations, due to dihedral twists between neighboring porphyrin units, but their symmetries are effectively D6h and D8h, respectively, in ...

Coarse Graining RNA Nanostructures for Molecular Dynamics Simulations [PDF]
A series of coarse-grained models have been developed for the study of the molecular dynamics of RNA nanostructures. The models in the series have one to three beads per nucleotide and include different amounts of detailed structural information.

Optical Properties of Gold Nanorings [PDF]
The optical response of ring-shaped gold nanoparticles prepared by colloidal lithography is investigated. Compared to solid gold particles of similar size, nanorings exhibit a redshifted localized surface plasmon that can be tuned over an extended wavelength range by varying the ratio of the ring thickness to its radius.

Graphene nanoring as a tunable source of polarized electrons [PDF]
We propose a novel spin filter based on a graphene nanoring fabricated above a ferromagnetic strip. The exchange interaction between the magnetic moments of the ions in the ferromagnet and the electron spin splits the electronic states, and gives rise to

Semiconductor nanoring lasers [PDF]
Lasing in a subwavelength metal-clad nanoring resonator has been demonstrated with a tunable emission wavelength, controlled by the width of the ring. The emission wavelength is shown to be tunable within a 10 nm wavelength range by changing the ring width between 240 and 340 nm.
