High-Q whispering-gallery mode lasing from nanosphere-patterned GaN nanoring arrays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A hexagonal-close-packed ordered array of nanorings was fabricated on GaN with a modified nanosphere lithography process. The spheres initially served as etch masks for the formation of closed-packed nanopillars.

Concentric GaAs nanorings growth modelling

open access: yesФизика и техника полупроводников, 2018
AbstractThe nanostructures formation process using the droplet epitaxy technique was investigated by Monte Carlo simulation. The simulation was fulfilled for two-dimensional and three-dimensional geometry substrates. The nanostructures morphology dependence on the growth temperature was presented.

Helical edge states in silicene and germanene nanorings in perpendicular magnetic field

open access: yes, 2017
Due to nonzero intrinsic spin-orbit interaction in buckled honeycomb crystal structures, silicene and germanene exhibit interesting topological properties, and are therefore candidates for the realization of the quantum spin Hall effect.

A molecular dynamics investigation of the mechanical properties of graphene nanochain

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, we investigate, by molecular dynamics simulations, the mechanical properties of a new carbon nanostructure, termed graphene nanochain, constructed by sewing up pristine or twisted graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) and interlocking the obtained ...

Breaking the Symmetry in Molecular Nanorings

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2016
Because of their unique electronic properties, cyclic molecular structures ranging from benzene to natural light-harvesting complexes have received much attention. Rigid π-conjugated templated porphyrin nanorings serve as excellent model systems here because they possess well-defined structures that can readily be controlled and because they support ...

Thermoplasmonic Nanorings for Passive Solar‐Responsive Smart Windows in Energy‐Efficient Building Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 12, 9 February 2026.
This work presents scalable silver nanorings with tunable thermoplasmonic properties for smart window applications. By responding to sunlight and environmental changes, the nanorings modulate near‐infrared light and reduce heat transmission. Their unique geometry enables dynamic optical control, offering a promising route toward energy‐efficient ...

A Triple-Band Hybridization Coherent Perfect Absorber Based on Graphene Metamaterial

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In this paper, a triple-band hybridization coherent perfect absorber based on graphene metamaterial is proposed, which consists of graphene concentric nanorings with different sizes and a metallic mirror separated by SiO2 layer.

Tunable negative permeability in a quantum plasmonic metamaterial

open access: yes, 2014
We consider the integration of quantum emitters into a negative permeability metamaterial design in order to introduce tunability as well as nonlinear behavior.

Enhanced Trapping with an Optimized Graphene‐Based Bowtie Plasmonic Nanotweezer: Design, Analysis, and Bioanalytical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
A graphene‐based bowtie plasmonic nanotweezer is designed and optimized using particle swarm optimization and transfer matrix analysis. The structure achieves strong field confinement, delivering trapping forces up to 6 nN W−1 for 10 nm bioparticles with sixfold lower power requirements than conventional designs.

Phase Diagram of Magnetization Reversal Processes in Nanorings

open access: yes, 2009
We investigate magnetization reversal processes of magnetic nanorings. Using a recently developed efficient cartesian coordinates fast multipole method, magnetization switching phase diagrams are constructed for such structures. We find that the dominant
