Colloidal Silicon Nanorod Synthesis

Nano Letters, 2009
The colloidal synthesis of crystalline silicon (Si) nanorods with diameters of 5 to 10 nm and lengths of 15 to 75 nm is demonstrated. Trisilane was decomposed in a hot solvent in the presence of dodecylamine and gold (Au) nanocrystals. Nanorods form by Au-seeded solution-liquid-solid growth with dodecylamine serving as capping ligands that stabilize ...

ZnO Nanorod Logic Circuits

Advanced Materials, 2005
Logic devices, including OR, AND, NOT, and NOR gates, based on single-crystalline ZnO nanorods are demonstrated. In these devices, ZnO nanorods are employed as semiconducting channels. They control metal/oxide semiconductor junction characteristics, to yield either good ohmic or Schottky contacts, ensuring fabrication of high-performance Schottky ...

Selective growth of ZnO nanorods on hydrophobic Si nanorod arrays

Nanotechnology, 2015
In this paper we describe the selective growth of ZnO nanorods (NRs) on top of hydrophobic Si NR arrays. The periodic Si NR arrays, prepared through electroless chemical etching and HF treatment, functioned as hydrophobic substrates. Droplets containing ZnO seeds could be positioned on the Si NR arrays, causing the ZnO seeds to deposit selectively upon

Helical Polymer‐Anchored Porphyrin Nanorods

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2003
AbstractWell‐defined arrays of porphyrins attached to a rigid polyisocyanide backbone have been synthesized and their physical and optical properties studied. The helical polymers are rigidified by an inter‐side chain hydrogen‐bonded network and have an average mass of 1.1×106 Daltons and a polydispersity index of 1.3.

Colloidal Multi-Dot Nanorods

Journal of the American Chemical Society
Colloidal nanorod heterostructures consisting of multiple quantum dots within a nanorod (n-DNRs, where n is the number of quantum dots within a nanorod) are synthesized with alternating segments of CdSe "dot" and CdS "rod" via solution heteroepitaxy.

Plasmonic nanorod metamaterials for biosensing

Nature Materials, 2009
Label-free plasmonic biosensors rely either on surface plasmon polaritons or on localized surface plasmons on continuous or nanostructured noble-metal surfaces to detect molecular-binding events. Despite undisputed advantages, including spectral tunability, strong enhancement of the local electric field and much better adaptability to modern ...
