The CYGNSS nanosatellite constellation hurricane mission
2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012The Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) is a spaceborne mission concept focused on tropical cyclone (TC) inner core process studies. CYGNSS attempts to resolve the principle deficiencies with current TC intensity forecasts, which lies in inadequate observations and modeling of the inner core.

Architecture of High Power Nanosatellites
2022Current CubeSat architecture has been developed “ad hoc” throughout multiple years with main goals of creating mechanically stable, sufficiently lightweight and low-cost structure. From their conception up to the current times, thermal issues in CubeSats have been of little concern due to relatively low power consumption.

The T-Sat1 Nanosatellite Team of Teams
2012 IEEE 11th International Conference on Cognitive Informatics and Cognitive Computing, 2012Designing complex machines and systems that operate in very difficult remote locations, with largely unknown conditions, is very challenging. Specifications for such systems must be extremely detailed and extensive, with input from professionals who have designed such systems before, and who gained considerable experience from their operations.

Nanosatellites—the BRITE and OPS-SAT missions
e & i Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik, 2014Nanosatellites are spacecraft in the mass range between 1 and 10 kg providing a fast and low-cost possibility to test new technology in Space and gain flight heritage. The first Austrian nanosatellite TUGSAT-1/BRITE-Austria, successfully launched in 2013, and a follow-up ESA mission are described in this paper.

Optimization of Fuzzy Attitude Control for Nanosatellites
2018In this work, the optimization by genetic algorithms of a system based on fuzzy logic for the attitude control of a nanosatellite is performed. The objective of this optimization is to propose different designs of the fuzzy controller depending on the possible operation modes along the whole mission of the satellite, to improve its efficiency and ...

Nanosatellite Science Applications
2002The notion of a “nanosat” or satellite in the range of 1 to 10 kg is not new. In fact, some of the very earliest satellites were technically “nanosats”. These were barely functional but did demonstrate that artificial satellites were feasible. Driven by the belief that bigger is better, spacecraft grew larger and larger for the next thirty years ...

Nanosatellite Conceptual Design
2005Abstract This chapter integrates the information presented earlier by illustrating the fundamentals of the conceptual design of a simplified spacecraft mission. A conceptual design is the initial step in the description of a space system in which the overall mission requirements are defined, the mission is described, a concept of ...
