DIFFERENT NANOSCALE ZERO VALENT IRONS FOR NITRATE-POLLUTED WATER REMEDIATION

open access: yesDIFFERENT NANOSCALE ZERO VALENT IRONS FOR NITRATE-POLLUTED WATER REMEDIATION
In this study, four nanoscale zero valent iron (NZVI) types were characterized and compared for nitrate removal from water. Through batch experiments, it was observed that old-purchased iron (OP-NZVI) had very low nitrate removal efficiency (10%) for more than 8 hours.

Investigation on Nanoscale Zero Valent Iron interactions in aqueous solution

open access: yesInvestigation on Nanoscale Zero Valent Iron interactions in aqueous solution
Nanoscale Zero Valent Iron (NZVI) is a waste water treatment approach that is currently gaining attention due to its high efficiency on removal of various water contaminants. To understand its chemical reaction mechanisms, NZVI interactions in aqueous solution free from contaminants were investigated in this study.

Modeling arsenic removal by nanoscale zero-valent iron

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2020
Arsenic removal by nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI) was modeled using the USGS geochemical program PHREEQC. The Dzombak and Morel adsorption model was used. The adsorption of As(V) onto NZVI was assumed to happen because of the hydrous ferric oxide (Hfo) which was the surface oxide for the model.

Separation and Analysis of Nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron from Soil

Analytical Chemistry, 2021
Nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) has become one of the most used engineered nanoparticles for soil remediation. However, isolating nZVI particles from a complex soil matrix for their accurate particle characterizations and transport distance measurements is still challenging.

Chromium removal using resin supported nanoscale zero-valent iron

Journal of Environmental Management, 2013
Resin supported nanoscale zero-valent iron (R-nZVI) was synthesized by the borohydride reduction method. Batch experiments were conducted to evaluate the factors affecting Cr(VI) removal. It was found that nZVI loads, resin dose, pH value and initial concentration of Cr(VI) were all important factors.

Kinetics of reductive denitrification by nanoscale zero-valent iron

Chemosphere, 2000
Zero-valent iron powder (Fe0) has been determined to be potentially useful for the removal of nitrate in the water environment. This research is aimed at subjecting the kinetics of denitrification by nanoscale Fe0 to an analysis of factors affecting the chemical denitrification of nitrate.
