Reduction of Cr(VI) by Urea-Dispersed Nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2015
Urea was used to disperse nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI) for reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) in aqueous solution. Scanning electron microscope and fourier transform-infrared spectra investigations demonstrated that urea could effectively increase the dispersion of NZVI resulting in more effective reduction sites (ERS) for Cr(VI) ions. Batch reduction

Reducing As availability in calcareous soils using nanoscale zero valent iron

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2017
Different methods, including the use of nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI), have been used to treat arsenic (As)-contaminated environments, with much less data on the use of NZVI in arsenic-calcareous-polluted soils. Accordingly, two different experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of NZVI on the removal of As from three different ...

Dechlorination of short chain chlorinated paraffins by nanoscale zero-valent iron

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2012
In this study, nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI) particles were synthesized and used for the reductive dehalogenation of short chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) in the laboratory. The results show that the dechlorination rate of chlorinated n-decane (CP(10)) by NZVI increased with decreased solution pH.

Nanoscale zero-valent iron reverses resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to chloramphenicol

Journal of Hazardous Materials
Zero-valent iron (ZVI) has been extensively studied for its capacity to remove various contaminants in the environments. However, whether ZVI affects bacterial resistance to antibiotics has not been fully explored. Herein, it was unexpected that, compared with microscale ZVI (mZVI), nanoscale ZVI (nZVI) facilitated the susceptibility of Pseudomonas ...

Kinetics of nitrate reductive denitrification by nanoscale zero-valent iron

Process Safety and Environmental Protection, 2010
Abstract Nanoscale zero-valent iron (Fe0) was synthesized for nitrate denitrification. The reduction efficiency of nitrate decreased quickly with increasing initial pH value, increased considerably with the increasing dosage of nanoscale Fe0, and did not vary much with initial nitrate concentrations changing from 20 to 50 mg l−1 when the excessive ...

Adsorption Models of Groundwater Remediation by Nanoscale Zero Valent Iron

2018
Nanoscale zero valent iron (nZVI) has shown great potential in the remediation of contaminated groundwater. For many different types of contaminant, adsorption was the main remediation mechanism, so it is necessary to figure out the adsorption models of remediation by nZVI.
