Nanostructured intense-laser cleaner [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
A nanostructured target is proposed to enhance an intense-laser contrast: when a laser prepulse irradiates a nanostructured solid target surface, the prepulse is absorbed effectively by the nanostructured surface. The nanostructure size should be less than the laser wavelength.

Concurrent Interface Passivation and Contact Work Function Tuning in Organic Self‐Aligned Gate Transistors and Complementary Circuits Using Phosphonic Acid Self‐Assembled Monolayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐aligned gate transistors are developed with a single‐step dielectric passivation and fine‐tuning of source/drain electrode work function using phosphonic acid self‐assembled monolayers (SAM). This transistor architecture minimizes overlap capacitances and access resistance.

Mesenchymal Stem Cells‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles Mimetics as Osteoinductive Mediators for Bone Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stem cell‐derived nanoghosts (MSC‐NGs) mimic naturally secreted extracellular vesicles (MSC‐EVs) in structure and physicochemical properties but can be synthesized at more translatable yields. As osteogenic agents, MSC‐NGs demonstrate superior outcomes compared to MSC‐EVs.

Homogeneity of Electro-Mechanical and Optical Characteristics in Ring-Shaped MEMS Shutter Arrays with Subfield Addressing for Interference Microscopy

open access: yesMicromachines
We present a MEMS array-based approach for micro-irises called “ring shutter”, utilizing subfield addressing for applications in advanced micro-optics, such as interference microscopy.

Strain analysis of multiferroic BiFeO3-CoFe2O4 nanostructures by Raman scattering

open access: yes, 2011
We report a Raman scattering investigation of columnar BiFeO3-CoFe2O4 (BFO-CFO) epitaxial thin film nanostructures, where BFO pillars are embedded in a CFO matrix.

Spectra2pix: Generating Nanostructure Images from Spectra [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The design of the nanostructures that are used in the field of nano-photonics has remained complex, very often relying on the intuition and expertise of the designer, ultimately limiting the reach and penetration of this groundbreaking approach. Recently, there has been an increasing number of studies suggesting to apply Machine Learning techniques for

Computer Simulations of Carbon Nanostructures under Pressure [PDF]

open access: yesFullerenes, nanotubes, and carbon nanostructures, 13 (1), 13 (2005), 2006
Several interesting phenomena are observed when materials are put under pressure. The goal is to achieve modification and control over their mechanical and electronic (conduction) properties. Within this spirit, we have recently focused our attention into how carbon nanostructures respond to hydrostatic pressure.

Enhanced Terahertz Spectroscopy of a Monolayer Transition Metal Dichalcogenide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An ad‐hoc engineered metallic surface is employed to perform enhanced terahertz spectroscopy of a monolayer transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD). Thanks to a local absorption boost of 104, this technique allows for the extraction of the phonon resonance features and effective permittivity of the 2D material, paving the way for the rational design of ...
