Coherent control near metallic nanostructures [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
We study coherent control in the vicinity of metallic nanostructures. Unlike in the case of control in gas or liquid phase, the collective response of electrons in a metallic nanostructure can significantly enhance different frequency components of the control field.

Large-scale electronic structure theory for simulating nanostructure process

open access: yes, 2006
Fundamental theories and practical methods for large-scale electronic structure calculations are given, in which the computational cost is proportional to the system size. Accuracy controlling methods for microscopic freedoms are focused on two practical

Inter‐Layer Diffusion of Excitations in 2D Perovskites Revealed by Photoluminescence Reabsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inter‐layer diffusion of photoexcitations is monitored in thin films of the 2D perovskite (PEA)2PbI4 by tracking time‐dependent changes in photoluminescence spectra induced by photon reabsorption effects. A low out‐of‐plane excitation diffusion coefficient of 0.26 × 10−4 cm2 s−1 is determined through 1D diffusion modeling.

Multi‐Scaled Cellulosic Nanonetworks from Tunicates

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microbial and plant nanonetworks of cellulose have enabled a wide range of high‐performance yet sustainable materials. Herein, a third class of cellulosic nanonetworks is showcased by exploiting the only animal tissue‐producing cellulose nanofibers, i.e., ascidians. An ultrastructure including spherical cells and a microvasculature with diameters of 50–

Quantum-kinetic perspective on photovoltaic device operation in nanostructure-based solar cells

open access: yes, 2017
The implementation of a wide range of novel concepts for next-generation high-efficiency solar cells is based on nanostructures with configuration-tunable optoelectronic properties. On the other hand, effective nano-optical light-trapping concepts enable

Polysaccharide Nanostructures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This chapter reviews the microstructural evolution of single polysaccharide gels, mixed protein–polysaccharide systems and fluid gels. It also covers the physicochemical behaviour of the crystalline and glassy solid states of polysaccharide systems. The chapter outlines the structural monomers of the polysaccharide backbone and goes on to describe how ...
