Synthesis of micro/nanostructured p-type Bi0.4Sb1.6Te3 and its thermoelectrical properties

open access: yes, 2009
Micro/nanostructured p-type Bi0.4Sb1.6Te3 alloy was prepared by hot-pressing at 703K. From the measurements of Seebeck coefficient, electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity, the calculated ZT value up to 1.15 was achieved at room temperature.

Low temperature magnetization behavior in Co36Fe36Si3Al1Nb4B20 (at%) nanostructured alloy

open access: yes, 2010
The investigation addresses low temperature magnetization behavior in Co36Fe36Si3Al1Nb4B20 alloy ribbons in their as-spun as well as annealed state. Optimum heat treatment at 875 K led to nanocrystallization whereby bcc-(FeCo)SiAl nanoparticles were ...

Gradient DLC-Based nanocomposite coatings as a solution to improve tribological performance of aluminum alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The low hardness and poor tribological performance of aluminum alloy as moving component greatly restricts their wide applications in automotive fields. In this letter, an attempt to deposit gradient Ti/TiN/Si/(TiC/a-C:H)multi-layer on aluminum alloy is ...

Hierarchical MXene‐Derived NTP/C Nanohybrids for Cryogenic Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical MXene‐derived NaTi2(PO4)3/C nanohybrid enables efficient sodium‐ion storage down to −40°C by integrating fast ion–electron transport pathways with an ether‐based electrolyte. The system promotes dominant pseudocapacitive behavior and forms a robust inorganic‐rich SEI, collectively mitigating kinetic and interfacial limitations, thereby ...

Bandgap‐Engineered AlGaAs/GaAs Heterostructures for Wavelength‐Selective Dual‐Polarity Photoelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bandgap‐engineered AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures exhibit wavelength‐selective dual‐polarity photoelectrochemistry, switching from photocathodic to photoanodic response depending on excitation wavelength. The polarity transition is governed by band‐selective absorption, built‐in electric‐field‐driven carrier transport, and interfacial charge‐transfer ...

Preparation and Photocatalytic Activity of Potassium- Incorporated Titanium Oxide Nanostructures Produced by the Wet Corrosion Process Using Various Titanium Alloys

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2015
Nanostructured potassium-incorporated Ti-based oxides have attracted much attention because the incorporated potassium can influence their structural and physico-chemical properties. With the aim of tuning the structural and physical properties, we have

Interface Effects in Ultrathin Silicon on Insulator Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work establishes a systematic framework to discriminate how bulk and interface phenomena affect charge transport in ultrathin P‐doped silicon‐on‐insulator (SOI) films. For Si films below 15 nm, electrical characterization demonstrates that interface states drive charge transport, shifting the metal‐insulator transition (MIT) critical dopant ...

Surprising Water Slipping Performance on Highly Hydrophilic PEG‐Derived Monolayer‐Covered Surfaces: Preparation, Mechanism, and Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Highly hydrophilic surfaces (water contact angle, ≈17.7°) exhibiting surprising water slipping performance (sliding angle, ≈7.3°) are successfully prepared via simple chemisorption of polyethylene glycol (PEG) organosilane and subsequent alkali‐treatment.
