Aqueous corrosion performance of nanostructured bainitic steel
Materials & Design (1980-2015), 2014In this study, the corrosion performance of nanostructured bainitic steel was compared with martensitic steel in chloride-containing solution using electrochemical techniques. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results showed that the polarization resistance (Rp) for nanostructured bainitic steel (3400 Ω cm2) was higher than that of ...

Effects of ausforming strain on bainite transformation in nanostructured bainite steel
International Journal of Minerals, Metallurgy, and Materials, 2017The effects of ausforming strain on bainite transformation in high-carbon low-alloy nanobainite steel were investigated using a Gleeble 3500 thermomechanical simulator machine. The bainite transformation speed at 300°C was found to be accelerated by ausforming at 300, 600, and 700°C under applied strains ranging from 10% to 50% followed by isothermal ...

Spheroidisation of hypereutectoid state of nanostructured bainitic steel
Materials Science and Technology, 2014Nanostructured bainite is extremely resistant to severe tempering making it difficult to reduce its hardness sufficiently to allow certain processing before heat treatment into its final state. An attempt is therefore made to introduce the divorced pearlite reaction that relies on the presence of pro-eutectoid cementite in the austenite in order to ...

High-cycle bending fatigue behaviour of nanostructured bainitic steel
Scripta Materialia, 2012The high-cycle bending fatigue behaviour of high-carbon Si–Al-rich steel with a nanostructured bainitic microstructure was studied. A fatigue limit for no failure in 107 cycles of the nanostructured bainitic steel is determined not only by hardness or strength, which determines the fatigue limit of conventional high- and ultrahigh-strength low-alloy ...

Selective Dissolution of Retained Austenite in Nanostructured Bainitic Steels
Advanced Engineering Materials, 2013Nanostructured bainitic steels, containing bainitic ferrite laths and retained austenite films, formed at two different isothermal temperatures were compared for corrosion behavior in chloride‐containing solution using electrochemical techniques. The potentiodynamic polarization results suggest that nanostructured bainite formed at 200 °C exhibits ...

Abstract It is well documented that much of the strength and hardness of nanostructured, carbide free bainitic steels come from the very small thickness of bainitic ferrite plates. In the current work, the Williamson–Hall method has been used to determine the bainitic ferrite plate thickness.

Solid State Phenomena, 2011
Nanostructured, low temperature bainitic steels with remarkable combination of ultimate tensile strength of about 2.5 GPa and high uniform elongation have been developed in the recent decade. To accelerate the bainitic transformation in theses steels, new chemical composition was designed by MUCG83 thermodynamic model which was developed in Cambridge ...

The Effect of Microphases on Elongation of Nanostructured Bainitic Steels
Metallurgist, 2017Nanostructured bainitic steel consisting of nanoscale bainitic-ferrite and retained austenite has been obtained by transforming at 200°C for 10 days. Despite the large volume fraction of retained austenite (29 vol.%) obtained, the total elongation of the nanostructured bainitic steel was relatively low.

Optimising parameters for galvanostatic polyaniline coating on nanostructured bainitic steel
Surface Engineering, 2016In this study, polyaniline was coated on a nanostructured bainitic steel to improve the corrosion resistance of the steel. A galvanostatic method with current density varied from 1–20 mA cm−2 was used for synthesising and coating polyaniline on the nanostructured bainitic steel.

Pressureless Sintering of Pre-Alloyed Nanostructured Bainitic Steel Powders
AM&P Technical ArticlesAbstract A recent study shows that powder metallurgy and pressureless sintering are a viable pathway to realize full-density bulk components of nanostructure bainitic steels. A scalable, pressureless supersolidus liquid phase sintering (SLPS) approach to process nanostructured bainitic steel is evaluated.
