Transparent Electrode with a Nanostructured Coating

ACS Nano, 2011
Using single-walled nanotubes as an example, we fabricated transparent conductive coatings and demonstrated a new technique of centrifuge coating as a potential low-waste, solution-based batch process for the fabrication of nanostructured coatings. A theoretical model is developed to account for the sheet resistance exhibited by layered random-network ...

Nanocrystalline and Nanostructured Coatings

2021
According to the definition of the US National Nanotechnology Initiative (USNNI), “nanometer-sized” materials, or more commonly referred to as “nanosized” or “nanostructured” materials, are materials with a particle diameter or an internal structure with at least one dimension smaller than 100 nm. From the pioneering works of McPherson in 1973, who was

Nanostructured coatings for tooling applications

International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials, 2015
In this contribution the authors will present a short summit of the state of the art in the field of nanostructured coatings and will then emphasise on the most recent developments concerning the possible changes in the coating architecture of CVD AlTiN, which can be achieved by changing some of the process ...

Multifunction Nanostructured Coatings

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2015
The active corrosion protection of metallic substrates can be achieved by addition of corrosion inhibitors to protective coatings. However, direct mixing of an inhibitor with coating formulations can lead to important drawbacks decreasing barrier properties of the coating and diminishing activity of the inhibitor.

Nanostructure of plasma-sprayed hydroxyapatite coating

Crystallography Reports, 2003
Calcium phosphate coatings were studied by high-resolution transmission microscopy, microdiffraction, and X-ray energy-dispersive spectroscopy. Coatings were prepared by spraying hydroxyapatite targets onto copper, nickel, and chromium substrates and onto NaCl and BaF2 single crystals in an argon plasma at a gas pressure of ∼1 Pa; the sputter power was

Nanostructured Protective Coatings

2006
Abstract : Recent developments in the field of "superhard" coatings are of interest to the Air Force for their potential superior wear resistance properties. The Nanostructured Protective Coatings (NPC) program was designed to establish a collaborative team of three entities having complementary hard materials competencies.

Fabrication of Nanostructured Coatings

Asian Review of Mechanical Engineering, 2016
The outstanding thermal, mechanical, electrical and electronic properties of nanocrystalline materials and carbon nanotubes hasattracted considerable research interests, and is now one of the major identifiable activities for material scientists. However, the practical and commercial use of these materials requires efficient processing methods, which ...

Design and characterization of nanostructured ultrahydrophobic coatings

Applied Optics, 2006
Films with specific nanoroughness were designed by "virtual coating" to yield ultrahydrophobicity while the light scatter remained below an application-relevant threshold. Examples of coating experiments demonstrate the realization of predicted properties.

Thermal Failure of Nanostructured Thermal Barrier Coatings with Cold-Sprayed Nanostructured NiCrAlY Bond Coat

Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, 2008
Abstract Nanostructured YSZ is expected to exhibit a high strain tolerability due to its low Young’s modulus and consequently high durability. In this study, a porous YSZ as the thermal barrier coating was deposited by plasma spraying using an agglomerated nanostructured YSZ powder on a Ni-based superalloy Inconel 738 substrate with a ...

NANOSTRUCTURED CUTTING TOOLS COATINGS FOR MACHINING TITANIUM

Machining Science and Technology, 2008
Innovative nanostructured tool coatings were developed in order to machine titanium-based alloys. Two dedicated coatings, AlSiTiN and TiCN, were applied by PVD on WC-Co tool inserts, developing nanostructured layers exhibiting superior performances, laboratory tests results being confirmed by machining experiments.
