Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Effect of the needles with different nanostructured carbon coatings on the osteoporotic bone tissue in the experiment

open access: yesRussian Open Medical Journal, 2019
The article presents the comparative analysis of osseointegrative properties of different nanostructured carbon (a-C and CN0.25) coatings of the needles which is based on a study of regulating bone remodeling growth factors as well as a marker of ...

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Cold‐Sprayed Metal Coatings with Nanostructure [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
Cold spray is a solid‐state coating deposition technology developed in the 1980s. In comparison with conventional thermal spray processes, cold spray can retain the original properties of feedstock, prevent the adverse influence on the underlying substrate materials, and produce very thick coatings.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Nanostructured thin film coatings with different strengthening effects

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
A number of articles on strengthening thin film coatings were analyzed and a lot of unusual strengthening effects, such as super high hardness and plasticity simultaneously, ultra low friction coefficient, high wear-resistance, curve rigidity increasing ...

Progress of Polymer Nanocomposite Coating in the Industrial Sector: An Overview [PDF]

open access: yesNanochemistry Research
Corrosion and tribology are surface processes that occur on the outer layer of materials. Modifying surfaces of materials without changing their internal properties is an efficient method for reducing corrosion, friction, and wear in engineering ...

Effect of powder grain size and titania content on mechanical and tribological properties of plasma sprayed Al2O3-TiO2 ceramic coatings [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2019
In this work, three ceramic composite coatings Al2O3-3TiO2 C, Al2O3-13TiO2 C, and Al2O3-13TiO2 N were plasma sprayed on steel substrates. They were deposited with two conventional powders differing the volume fraction of TiO2 and nanostructured powder ...
