Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Nanostructured Carbon and Gold Screen-Printed Electrodes for Sensitive Detection of Benzisothiazolinone in Environmental Water Samples

open access: yesSensors
Benzisothiazolinone (BIT) is a commonly used biocide in water-based products, which can enter the environment from household and personal care products, as well as from leaching off building facades and roofs due to rainfall, eventually reaching rivers ...

Nanostructured Molecularly Imprinted Polyaniline for Acrylamide Sensing

open access: yesProceedings, 2019
Due to the non-electroactivity of carcinogenic organic compound acrylamide, an indirect electrochemical detection by using molecularly imprinted polymer is proposed as a detection method.

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Human Gut Bacteria and Lipidic Nanoparticles: Particle Composition Predicts Structural Transformation and Bacterial Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipidic nanoparticles (LNPs) were incubated with 21 gut bacteria frequently associated with the human microbiome. SAXS revealed that ∼75% of tested species induced structural transformations in monoolein LNPs, whereas phytantriol and phospholipid formulations remained unaffected.
