Transfer of Self‐Sustained Reactions between Thermally Coupled Reactive Material Elements

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 3, February 2025.
The analysis reveals how localized reactive multilayer materials, under gasless combustion, influence heat transfer and reaction kinetics. Factors like thermal conductivity, substrate properties, and obstacle composition are crucial. This understanding aids in optimizing engineering processes.

Fluctuating Flame from Suspending Ferrimagnetic Core/Shell Al@Fe3O4 Nanoparticles in a Magnetic Field

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 11, Issue 29, October 15, 2024.
This article reports on the fabrication and microstructures of novel Al@Fe3O4 core–shell composite nanoparticles. Thermal analysis suggests the as‐prepared particles predominantly go through a solid‐state reaction mechanism that exhibits 30% lower activation energy compared to physically mixed nanocomposite.

Microwave Ignition of Thermites

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, Volume 49, Issue 10-11, October 2024.
Abstract This study investigates the microwave ignition behavior of a range of thermites of aluminum, boron, titanium, and tantalum fuels with oxides of Bi2O3, CuO, and Fe2O3. In order to gain insight into the modes of energy transfer leading to ignition, thermites are heated in either a purely electric or magnetic field environment within a single ...
