Pyrotechnic heater setup as a calorimeter: Micro- vs. nano- Mg/Fe2O3 thermites

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Combustion of thermite composition Mg/Fe2O3 with micron- and nano-sized components was studied in pyrotechnic heater setup. Pressed charges were burned out in hermetic steel tubes with simultaneous pressure and temperature registration.

Probing the ignition mechanism of aluminum nanothermites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Nanothermites are defined as intimate mixtures of metal and metal oxidizer particles usually below 100 nm in diameter. They belong to a class of energetic materials which have been of recent interest due to their high amounts of stored energy, and their ...

Ti/CuO and Ti/CuO/Cellulose Nitrate Nanothermites: An Early Insight into Their Combustion Mechanism

open access: yesEnergies
Most nanothermite compositions utilise Al as a fuel, due to its low cost, high reactivity and availability. Nevertheless, aluminothermites exhibit high ignition temperature and low active metal content.

Effect of additives on CuO/Al nanothermite properties

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2017
The effect of additives on CuO/Al nanothermite properties is reported. The incorporation of additives resulted in the decreased sensitivity. It had an adverse impact on gas dynamic characteristics of CuO/Al nanothermite, up to the loss of the unique capability of burning in narrow channels.

An exothermal energy release layer for microchip transience [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
pre-printA single layer nanothermite spin coated gel has been utilized as a solid-state exothermic energy release layer for triggered microchip transience. A proportional combination of self-assembled CuO/Al nanothermite and Napalm-B as gelling agent has
