Elastic Properties of Carbon nanotubes : An atomistic approach

open access: yes, 2007
Energetically the single sheet of graphite (graphene) is more stable than the nanotube. The energy difference between the two systems can be directly related to the strain energy involved in rolling up the graphene sheet to form the nanotube.

Microcellular Poly (Ethylene‐Co‐Vinyl Acetate)/Lignin Nanocomposites for Soft Ferroelectrets

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Lignin valorization for advanced porous polymer nanocomposites development and an upscaling route for continuous manufacturing of soft ferroelectrets for energy harvesting are studied. This work examines the role of lignin and carbon nanotubes (CNT) in modifying the mechanical, dielectric, and ferroelectret properties of poly (ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate)

Nano‐Patterned CuO Nanowire Nanogap Hydrogen Gas Sensor with Voids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
Sub‐5‐ppb hydrogen (H2) detection and sub‐10‐s response and recovery times are achieved based on nano‐patterned polycrystalline CuO nanowires nanogap gas sensors with voids using electron‐beam lithography and unique annealing processes. Pre‐H2 annealing, void‐generating oxidation, and downscaled nanogap electrodes are key to improving the sensing ...

A Fully Tunable Single-Walled Carbon Nanotube Diode

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate a fully tunable diode structure utilizing a fully suspended single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT). The diode's turn-on voltage under forward bias can be continuously tuned up to 4.3 V by controlling gate voltages, which is ~6 times the ...

In‐Situ Growth of 2D MOFs as a Molecular Sieving Layer on SnS2 Nanoflakes for Realizing Ultraselective H2S Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The ultraselective H2S detection of the ZIF‐L/SnS2 heterostructure is demonstrated. The introduction of 2‐dimensional (2D) breathable ZIF‐L results in a substantial increase in H2S selectivity attributable to the molecular sieving effect, which impedes the permeation of gases with large kinetic diameters and high polarity.

Convergence Gas Sensors with One-Dimensional Nanotubes and Pt Nanoparticles Based on Ultraviolet Photonic Energy for Room-Temperature NO2 Gas Sensing

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a promising material for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) gas sensors because of its nontoxicity, low cost, and small size. We fabricated one-dimensional (1D) and zero-dimensional (0D) convergence gas sensors activated via ultraviolet (UV ...

Surface patterning of carbon nanotubes can enhance their penetration through a phospholipid bilayer

open access: yes, 2012
Nanotube patterning may occur naturally upon the spontaneous self-assembly of biomolecules onto the surface of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). It results in periodically alternating bands of surface properties, ranging from relatively hydrophilic

Fluid mixtures in nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2018
The aim of the paper is the study of fluid mixtures in nanotubes by the methods of continuum mechanics. The model starts from a statistical distribution in mean-field molecular theory and uses a density expansion of Taylor series. We get a continuous expression of the volume free energy with density's spatial-derivatives limited at the second order ...

The Route to Artery Mimetics: Hybrid Bioinks for Embedded Bioprinting of Multimaterial Cylindrical Models

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The fabrication of a cellularized, multilayered 3D printed cylindrical model comprising hybrid bioinks inspired by the natural extracellular environment as an approach to artery mimetics, is presented. Using embedded bioprinting, interlayer crosslinking of self‐supporting concentric cylinders is achieved.
