Organic nanotubes, as assembled nanospaces, in which to carry out host–guest chemistry, reversible binding of smaller species for transport, sensing, storage or chemical transformation purposes, are currently attracting substantial interest, both as biological ion channel mimics, or for addressing tailored material properties.

One-dimensional slidetronics is predicted for double-walled boron-nitride nanotubes. Local electrostatic polarization patterns along the body of the nanotube are found to be determined by the nature of the two nanotube walls, their relative configuration, and circumferential faceting modulation during coaxial interwall sliding.

Abstract Wettability studies of liquids inside nanometre scale channels commenced shortly after the discovery of carbon nanotubes in the early 1990s. Since then the field has progressively expanded to other kinds of nanotubes and nanochannels as they have become available.

Carbon Nanotubes in Biomedicine [PDF]
Nowadays, biomaterials have become a crucial element in numerous biomedical, preclinical, and clinical applications. The use of nanoparticles entails a great potential in these fields mainly because of the high ratio of surface atoms that modify the physicochemical properties and increases the chemical reactivity.

AbstractIn this review, we show that the structure and behavior of single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) are essentially polymeric; in fact, many have referred to SWNTs as “the ultimate polymer”. The classification of SWNTS as polymers is explored by comparing the structure, properties, phase behavior, rheology, processing, and applications of SWNTs with ...

We have constructed a fully functional, fully integrated radio receiver from a single carbon nanotube. The nanotube serves simultaneously as all essential components of a radio: antenna, tunable band-pass filter, amplifier, and demodulator. A direct current voltage source, as supplied by a battery, powers the radio.

Fluoroanhydrite compositions plasticized by polycarboxylate esters
The influence of a plasticizer based on polycarboxylate esters on the properties of a high-strength fluoroanhydrite composition and a lightweight composition with expanded perlite sand is investigated. It was shown that the addition of 2% polycarboxylate
