Single DNA hairpin nanowire based on self-hybridization chain reaction for sensitive ATP detection
Hybridization chain reaction (HCR), which typically consists of two hairpins for signal amplification, has emerged as a versatile tool in bioanalytical applications. Here, a novel HCR nanowire based on a single DNA hairpin structure is reported.

Far-field optical imaging of surface plasmons with a subdiffraction limited separation
When an ultrathin silver nanowire with a diameter less than 100 nm is placed on a photonic band gap structure, surface plasmons can be excited and propagate along two side-walls of the silver nanowire.

Magneto–Optical Kerr Effect Microscopy Investigation on Permalloy Nanostructures [PDF]
This thesis focuses on the investigation of magnetic domains in ultrasmall permalloy (Ni80Fe20) structures down to nanometre size. Magnetic domains and domain walls in nano objects are often observed using a very high resolution and high power microscope

Universal Conductance Fluctuations in Quantum Anomalous Hall Insulators
Universal conductance fluctuations are observed in mesoscopic quantum anomalous Hall insulators. Two distinct fluctuation patterns are identified, arising from different interference processes of bulk and chiral edge states, respectively. These findings unveil rich quantum interference phenomena in quantum anomalous Hall insulators and provide insights

Thin film silicon nanowire photovoltaic devices produced with gold and tin catalysts
Silicon nanowires produced using pulsed plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition have been used as part of a thin film photovoltaic device. Nanowires of differing morphologies were produced by using both gold and tin thin films as a catalyst for growth.

Phase boundaries between Co2P and CoP are constructed through a controlled transformation of Co to Co2P‐CoP branched nanoparticles. The polycrystalline mixed‐phase Co2P‐CoP branches are enriched with phase boundaries that stabilize Co active sites for OER. This work highlights phase boundary engineering as a powerful approach to tailor active sites and

Facile Synthesis of Ni3S2@MoS2 Nanowire Arrays Grown on Ni Foam for High Performance Supercapacitor
Here, a novel Ni3S2@MoS2 nanowire arrays grown on Ni foam was successfully synthesized by one-step hydrothermal method. At the same time, the diameter of Ni3S2@MoS2 nanowire grown on Ni foam was easily controlled by the reaction times.

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Fluorophore signal detection and imaging enhancement in high refractive index nanowire biosensors
Semiconductor nanowires are an efficient platform for fluorescence-based biosensors. Here, we model how a GaP nanowire (i) enhances the excitation intensity at the position of the fluorophore attached to the nanowire sidewall, (ii) enhances the ...
