Meta‐Analysis of Industry Incident Reports: Identifying Gaps in Climate‐Related Safety Risks

open access: yesSafety Science and Technology, Volume 1, Issue 1, March 2026.
Climate‐related hazards like floods, storms, and heatwaves are increasing, raising concerns for industrial safety. When such events trigger technological failures (NATECH incidents), consequences can be severe, particularly in chemical and energy sectors. A PRISMA and bowtie‐based meta‐analysis of 50 climate‐linked incidents from the US Chemical Safety

Recent Advances in Catalytic Conversion of Bioethanol to 1,3‐Butadiene: Reaction Mechanism, Catalyst Design, and Process Scalability

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
Catalytic conversion of ethanol to 1,3‐butadiene (BD) can proceed via one‐step and two‐step routes. In the one‐step process, pure and metal‐modified MgO–SiO2 catalysts enable direct ethanol transformation to BD, while ZrO2‐based catalysts drive the two‐step pathway.

Pathways to a Fully Renewable Energy System in Iran: A Scenario‐Based Analysis Across Power, Heat, Transport, Industry and Desalination

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study assesses three transition pathways for Iran's energy system to 2050. Only the best policy scenario (BPS) achieves 100% renewables, with over 93% of primary energy from solar photovoltaics, extensive storage, and power‐to‐X technologies. In the BPS, CO2 emissions fall to zero and the levelised cost of electricity declines to €24.7/MWh by 2050.
