Extended HPV typing as an efficient alternative within HPV‐based screening programs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 3, Page 638-644, 1 August 2026.
What's New? Extended high‐risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) typing holds promise for improving cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 (CIN3) detection, particularly as vaccinated cohorts may shift the prevalence of oncogenic HPV types. Digitizing collections to unlock the full potential of palynology: A case study with the Smithsonian palynology collection

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 4, Page 1116-1131, July 2026.
Large palynological collections have been built over decades and contain vital information. However, they are often difficult to access and use effectively. What is the point of having such collections if they are not fully utilizable? To solve this problem, we digitized the Smithsonian palynological collection using both light and confocal microscopy.

General Anaesthesia Versus Spinal Anaesthesia for Outpatient Total Hip and Knee Arthroplasty: A Randomised Trial Protocol

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 6, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Same‐day discharge after primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is increasing, but the optimal anaesthetic technique for outpatient pathways remains uncertain. Neuraxial anaesthesia is widely recommended based on observational evidence, whereas fast‐track programmes using short‐acting total ...
