Coesite Discovery in Eclogites Confirms UHP Metamorphism in the Orlica‐Śnieżnik Dome (SW Poland)

open access: yesJournal of Metamorphic Geology, Volume 44, Issue 3, Page 200-225, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Eclogite lenses are exposed within the orthogneiss‐dominated core of the Orlica‐Śnieżnik Dome in the Sudetes, which forms the northeastern margin of the Bohemian Massif (Variscan Belt of Central Europe). The presence of coesite inclusions in garnet and omphacite confirms that these eclogites underwent ultrahigh‐pressure metamorphism.

The Tromsø Nappe Contact with the Nakkedal Nappe Complex NE of Tromsdalstind : Shear kinematics and relationship with metamorphism. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The tectonic contact between the Nakkedal Nappe Complex and the Tromsø Nappe crops out NE of Tromsdalstind, 5 km E of Tromsø, Norway. Petrological- and structural analysis of the contact have been undertaken in order to contribute to a better ...

Nappe flow regime energy loss in stepped chutes equipped with reverse inclined steps: experimental development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
With advances in technology and the invention of the Roller-Compacted Concrete (R.C.C) technique, stepped spillway construction has become much faster than in the past. Due to this, designers have become more interested in using this kind of chute as one

Mitigation investigation of flow-induced vibrations at a rehabilitated spillway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Linville Land Harbor Dam was recently rehabilitated and provided with a labyrinth spillway to increase flood passage capacity. Nappe vibration, a condition that can occur at hydraulic structures with a free overfall, has been observed for low flows.

High-speed aerated jet trajectory simulated by compounding method of Euler-Euler model and meshless SPH method

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics
The flood discharge head is getting higher in high dam construction, threatening the safety of hydraulic engineering. Accurate prediction of the nappe trajectory is needed to help guarantee safety through downstream strategies.

Impact of fracturing on the hydrological flow in the Liassic nappe of the Causse d'Agouraï, Middle Atlas, Morocco

open access: yesGeogaceta
The study of fracturing at Ain Bouchermou, Ain Maârouf, and Ain Boujaoui water sources used satellite image analysis, isobase analysis, and structural field study to reveal new data on hydrological flows and water storage in karsts and breccias. Mapping the fracture network identified three groups of oriented fractures: N-S, NESW, and NW-SE, with the ...

Causes and Countermeasures for Nappe Oscillation: An Experimental Approach

open access: yes, 2014
Weirs are commonly used as spillways to release flows from a reservoir. The freefalling jet on the downstream side of the weir is called the nappe. Under certain hydraulic conditions, determined mainly by the size, design, and construction of the weir ...

Quantification of nitrate removal by a flooded alluvial zone in the Ill floodplain (Eastern France) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The nitrate reducing capacity of a flooded system in the Ill floodplain (Eastern France) was investigated for a period of 2 years. The methodology used consisted of a spatio-temporal monitoring of stream flow and nitrate concentrations in the groundwater

Global dynamics analysis of nappe oscillation

open access: yes, 2014
The unsteady global dynamics of a gravitational liquid sheet interacting with a onesided adjacent air enclosure, typically referred to as nappe oscillation, is addressed, under the assumptions of potential flow and absence of surface tension effects ...

Cyclic frictional-viscous slip oscillations along the base of an advancing nappe complex: Insights into brittle-ductile nappe emplacement mechanisms from the Naukluft Nappe Complex, central Namibia

open access: yes, 2006
The Naukluft Nappe Complex (NNC) forms a far-traveled fold and thrust belt klippe of the Panafrican Damara Belt in central Namibia. Estimates of the SE directed displacement range between 50 and 80 km.
