Subproton-scale cascades in solar wind turbulence: driven hybrid-kinetic simulations

open access: yes, 2016
A long-lasting debate in space plasma physics concerns the nature of subproton-scale fluctuations in solar wind (SW) turbulence. Over the past decade, a series of theoretical and observational studies were presented in favor of either kinetic Alfv\'en ...

Investigation of 222‐nm ultraviolet C irradiation bactericidal effect on the surgical field in a rabbit model

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
In a rabbit surgical field model seeded with polymicrobial flora, a single dose of 222‐nm UV‐C (500 mJ/cm2) markedly reduced bacterial colonies, achieving a bactericidal effect comparable to 254‐nm UV‐C (200 mJ/cm2), while no UV‐C irradiation showed heavy growth. Wound healing did not differ among groups. Microbiota profiling detected SSI‐relevant taxa

Feasibility and Safety of High‐Power Settings for Electrical Isolation of the Superior Vena Cava Using a Catheter Capable of Local Impedance and Contact Force Monitoring

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 3, June 2026.
High‐power superior vena cava isolation using a contact force– and local impedance–sensing catheter achieved safe and consistent first‐pass isolation. Local impedance decreased more rapidly than generator impedance, accurately reflecting effective lesion formation and enabling reliable real‐time assessment in thin SVC myocardium.

Successful treatment with low‐dose oral steroids for contracted bladder after intravesical instillation of Bacillus Calmette–Guérin

open access: yesIJU Case Reports
Introduction Contracted bladder is a rare adverse effect of intravesical Bacillus Calmette–Guérin instillation, with an incidence of 0.2–3.3%. This report aimed to present a case of contracted bladder successfully treated with a low‐dose oral steroid ...

A case of fenitrothion self-poisoning with prolonged clinical features

open access: yesToxicology Communications
Background Organophosphorus compounds cause toxicity, typically within a few hours following oral exposure, by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase. We report a case of fenitrothion ingestion with delayed onset of severe muscarinic symptoms.Case report A 56 ...

Effects of knocking out three anthocyanin modification genes on the blue pigmentation of gentian flowers

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
Genome editing by the CRISPR/Cas9 system has recently been used to produce gene knockout lines in many plant species. We applied this system to analyze Japanese gentian plants that produce blue flowers because of the accumulation of a polyacylated ...

The Nature of Subproton Scale Turbulence in the Solar Wind

open access: yes, 2013
The nature of subproton scale fluctuations in the solar wind is an open question, partly because two similar types of electromagnetic turbulence can occur: kinetic Alfven turbulence and whistler turbulence.

On generalized Narita ideals

open access: yes
Let $(A,\mathfrak{m})$ be a Cohen-Macaulay local ring of dimension $d \geq 2$. An $\mathfrak{m}$-primary ideal $I$ is said to be a generalized Narita ideal if $e_i^I(A) = 0$ for $2 \leq i \leq d$. If $I$ is a generalized Narita ideal and $M$ is a maximal Cohen-Macaulay $A$-module then we show $e_i^I(M) = 0$ for $2 \leq i \leq d$.

Understanding sleep and smartphone use in diverse adolescents through passive digital monitoring

open access: yesJournal of Research on Adolescence, Volume 36, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Adolescents are among the most frequent smartphone users worldwide. Yet, few studies have examined how smartphone use appears among minority adolescents, including sexual and gender minority (SGM) youth and children of immigrant parents, who often experience unique stressors and heightened mental‐health risk.
