• Seventy-two infants were treated with nasal continuous positive airway pressure for one day to five weeks, and nasal deformities developed in none. One hundred thirty-six infants were treated with nasotracheal tubes and eight (6%) were found to have nasal deformities.

We might classify these in two groups: first, simple deformities representing instances of varied degrees of distortion without loss of tissue, and, second, gross deformities, in which we find destruction of a part or of the entire nose due to disease or injury.
