Left lateral decubitus position during sedation‐free transnasal endoscopy: A pilot study

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Sedation‐free transnasal endoscopy (TNE) is a safe, feasible, and well tolerated procedure performed in children to evaluate the upper gastrointestinal tract. The procedural technique of TNE in children is adopted from procedural standards in adults, typically using the upright seated position.

Stratigraphy and geomorphology of Des‐Cubierta Cave (Pinilla del Valle, Madrid, Spain): Geological insights into a Neanderthal symbolic accumulation of large crania

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Des‐Cubierta Cave, part of the Calvero de la Higuera complex, is situated in the intramountainous upper valley of the Lozoya River within the Guadarrama Range. Early Division of the Paramedian Forehead Flap: A Systematic Review and Retrospective Analysis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Early division of the paramedian forehead flap pedicle may help alleviate emotional distress, functional deficit, and productivity cost associated with the reconstructive process. In the present cohort, flap division 16 days and earlier was feasible and safe in nonsmoking patients with partial thickness defects and limited use of cartilage grafting ...

Low‐Strip Dorsal Preservation Rhinoplasty Opens the Internal Nasal Valve in Tension Nose Deformity

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
The goal of this study was to evaluate the effect of dorsal preservation on internal nasal valve dimensions in noses with an overprojected cartilaginous septum. Ten postmortem human specimen heads with a tension nose deformity were imaged using ultra‐high‐resolution photon‐counting detector computed tomography, before and after low‐strip let down.

Nasal Mucosa Regeneration After Reboot Surgery: Electron Microscopy and Histology Insights in CRSwNP

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
CRSwNP often requires multiple treatments, with monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and endoscopic sinus surgeries used to manage resistant cases. This study focused on five patients undergoing reboot surgery, analyzing mucosal regeneration through biopsies and clinical outcomes over 24 months. It revealed complete non‐scarred regeneration of the nasal mucosa,

Assessing the Accuracy, Safety, and Tolerance of Office‐Based Endoscopic Biopsies for Laryngopharyngeal Lesions

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This prospective study assessed the accuracy, safety, and tolerance of 490 office‐based biopsies for the diagnosis of laryngopharyngeal lesions. Results showed that OBBs, mainly taken from the glottic and supraglottic larynx, were generally well‐tolerated, with a low complication rate and high diagnostic accuracy.

Intranasal pH and Olfactory Function Among Healthy Adults

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
In this cross‐sectional study of 62 adults, olfactory cleft (OC) pH was lower than that over the respiratory mucosa (RM), with repeated testing resulting in more alkaline pH and olfactory testing having no effect. OC pH, but not RM pH, was negatively correlated with odor identification scores and predicted 18% of the variance in these scores.
