Histopathological changes in nasal mucosa with nasal septum deviation

European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 2014
Histopathological changes in septal and nasal mucosa of patients with nasal septum deviation are not well known. Biopsies of septal and lateral nasal mucosae from both sides of nose were obtained from 20 patients undergoing septoplasty and control group of 10 patients undergoing head and neck surgery.

Endothelin in Human Nasal Mucosa

American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology, 1993
Endothelin (ET), a potent vasoconstrictor and bronchoconstrictor peptide synthesized by endothelial and epithelial cells, was examined for its potential functions in human inferior turbinate nasal mucosal tissue by four techniques: (1) immunoreactive ET was localized in the mucosa by immunohistochemistry; (2) receptors for ET were identified by ...

Mast cell quantitation in nasal polyps, sinus mucosa and nasal turbinate mucosa

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1993
The distribution and abundance of mast cells in nasal polyps, the maxillary sinus mucosa of patients with sinusitis and the turbinate mucosa of allergic rhinitis was microscopically examined using different methods of fixation. In the epithelium of the surface and the ducts of nasal polyps (n = 8), the mean number of mast cells was over 20,000 per mm3 ...
