Evaluation of human obstructive sleep apnea using computational fluid dynamics. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) severity might be correlated to the flow characteristics of the upper airways. We aimed to investigate the severity of OSA based on 3D models constructed from CT scans coupled with computational fluid dynamics (CFD ...

Depression and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
For over two decades clinical studies have been conducted which suggest the existence of a relationship between depression and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

Dysfunctional TRIM31 of POMC Neurons Provokes Hypothalamic Injury and Peripheral Metabolic Disorder under Long‐Term Fine Particulate Matter Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Particulate matter ≤2.5 µm (PM2.5) elevates risks of neurological and chronic metabolic diseases, but the underlying mechanisms linking PM2.5‐induced central nervous system (CNS) injury to metabolic dysfunction remain unclear. Hypothalamic pro‐opiomelanocortin‐expressing (POMC+) neurons regulate systemic metabolic homeostasis, and tripartite motif ...

The importance of screening in children who snore [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
It is important to screen for OSAS in children who snore, as early treatment of OSAS can prevent neurocognitive, behavioural, cardiovascular and metabolic consequences.

Endometrial Assembloid Model Reveals Endometrial Gland Development Regulation by Estradiol‐Driven WNT7B Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a 3D endometrial assembloid model to study how uterine glands form and develop. They discovered key interactions between different cell types and identified WNT7B as a regulator controlled by estradiol‐mediated TGFβ1‐VDR interaction.

Sleep clinical record. what differences in school and preschool children? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The sleep clinical record (SCR) may be a valid method for detecting children with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). This study aimed to evaluate whether there were differences in SCR depending on age and to identify the possible risk factors for OSA ...

A Microfluidic Digital Shutter of Liquid–Liquid Interface for Fabrication of Multifaceted Hydrogel Microfiber Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable passive digital shutter based on multiphase liquid–liquid interface dynamics is introduced for precise fabrication of hydrogel microfibers. By modulating the shutter operation, microfibers with tunable geometry—including linear, helical, tadpole‐like, and spherical forms—are produced.
