Embryonic cranial cartilage defects in the Fgfr3Y367C/+ mouse model of achondroplasia
Abstract Achondroplasia, the most common chondrodysplasia in humans, is caused by one of two gain of function mutations localized in the transmembrane domain of fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) leading to constitutive activation of FGFR3 and subsequent growth plate cartilage and bone defects.

Consonant gemination in Italian: the nasal and liquid case [PDF]
All Italian consonants affected by gemination, that is affricates, fricatives, liquids, nasals, and stops, were analyzed within a project named GEMMA that lasted over a span of about 25 years. Results of the analysis on stops, as published in (Esposito, A., and Di Benedetto, M. G. (1999).

Neural Patterns of Social Pain in the Brain‐Wide Representations Across Social Contexts
Empathy arises from both physiological and social pain, yet their shared and context‐specific neural mechanisms remain unclear. Combining fMRI and multivariate pattern analysis, this study decodes overlapping empathy networks and distinct representations for social exclusion versus separation.

PANEs are specifically designed to enhance the brain delivery efficiency of circDYM compared to commercialized lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). Intranasal administration of PANE‐circDYM effectively alleviated LPS‐induced depressive‐like behaviors by mitigating neuroinflammation and promoting neuroplasticity.

The upregulation of FTO in autoimmune dry eye suppresses the recognition of pri‐miR‐31 by DGCR8, thereby inhibiting the maturation of miR‐31‐5p and reducing its inhibitory effect on the target gene P2RX7. The activation of P2RX7 subsequently triggers the p38 MAPK signaling pathway and increases the level of M1‐related genes, thus exacerbating the ...

This study presents an innovative method to generate high‐quality, objectively annotated cytology datasets without relying on expert involvement. Large‐scale single‐cell DNA sequencing is used as an objective ground truth of cell annotation for generating an accurate, unbiased dataset of exfoliated tumor cells from bronchoalveolar lavage cytology ...

Discriminating between Nasal and Mouth Breathing [PDF]
The recommendation to change breathing patterns from the mouth to the nose can have a significantly positive impact upon the general well being of the individual. We classify nasal and mouth breathing by using an acoustic sensor and intelligent signal processing techniques.

Patient specific numerical simulation of flow in the human upper airways for assessing the effect of nasal surgery [PDF]
The study is looking into the potential of using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) as a tool for predicting the outcome of surgery for alleviation of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). From pre- and post-operative computed tomography (CT) of an OSAS patient, the pre- and post-operative geometries of the patient's upper airways were generated ...
