Origin of nasal polyps

The Laryngoscope, 1991
The nasoethmoid complexes from 6 patients with nasal polyps were systematically examined. First, the location and place of the origin of the polyps were recorded and photographed. The polyps and their places of origin were removed, serial sectioned, and examined. In all 6 patients, the polyps originated from the nasal mucosa.

The Nasal Reactivity in Patients with Nasal Polyps

ORL, 2010
Nasal polyposis is a common clinical problem. The polyps commonly arise from the ethmoid sinuses and the etiology is still poorly understood. There is a connection between nasal polyps and asthma, cystic fibrosis and aspirin intolerance, but it is unclear whether there is a connection between nasal polyps and nasal hyperreactivity.

Nasal Polyps and Sinusitis

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1997
Despite the prevalence and long history of nasal polyps, many questions still exist with respect to incidence and pathogenesis. Although allergy has been commonly thought to be a major cause, much compelling evidence argues against this. Medical therapy consists of a short course of systemic steroids followed by intranasal steroids.

Mucoviscidosis and Nasal Polyps

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1970
A case of MV with pronounced nasal symptcms in a 12-year-old girl is described. It is important that the patient should come under treatment as early as possible because of the long-term prognosis, and here the otologist can make his contribution. Since the completion of this paper, another patient with suspected mucoviscidosis has been examined at the

Biofilm in nasal polyps.

Rhinology, 2008

The aim of this study was to determine whether biofilm exists in nasal polyps, both in diffuse nasal polyposis (DNP) and antrochoanal polyps (ACP).Tissue samples were taken from seven patients suffering from DNP and three patients ...

Nasal Polyps

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1984
(1) SummaryNasal polyps are grossly oedematous tissue which has undergone considerable shrinkage when processed for scanning electron microscopy (SEM), converting the normally smooth surface into one with undulations. This shrinkage resulted in variable degrees of loss of the surface epithelium and thus gave rise to artifact.
