Cost Utility Analysis of Fluticasone Exhalation Delivery System Versus Budesonide Nasal Irrigation for Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is managed after sinus surgery with topical corticosteroids. Given limited distribution of nasal steroid sprays, patients have the option of either steroid nasal irrigation (SNI) or exhalation delivery system with fluticasone (EDS‐FLU).

Characterization of T-cell Subpopulations in Patients with Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyposis

open access: yesAllergy & Rhinology, 2017
Background There is an ongoing discussion concerning the potential origins of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP). Objective The aim of this study was to quantify subpopulations of T cells in peripheral blood and nasal polyps in CRSwNP ...

The Roles of Autophagy, Mitophagy, and the Akt/mTOR Pathway in the Pathogenesis of Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2022
The pathogenesis of CRSwNP is complex and unclear. CRSwNP is subdivided into two types based on the infiltration of EOSs: eCRSwNP and noeCRSwNP. This study was designed to seek the role of autophagy, mitophagy, and Akt/mTOR pathway in these two subtypes ...

Dosing Interval Extension of Dupilumab in CRSwNP: Five‐Year Real World Outcomes

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a persistent, often Type 2‐mediated inflammatory disease that markedly impairs quality of life. While dupilumab provides rapid improvement, there is limited evidence on long‐term outcomes beyond 2 years, and the clinical impact of dosing‐interval extension remains unclear.

Uncovering Cystic Fibrosis Carrier: Insights From a Heterozygous CFTR‐F508del Rabbit Model

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a heterogeneous inflammatory disorder frequently associated with impaired mucociliary clearance and bacterial infection. Individuals carrying a single cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) mutation exhibit partial CFTR dysfunction and are increasingly recognized as being at risk ...

Allergic Rhinitis Amplifies Asthma Risk in Patients With Chronic Rhinosinusitis: A Large‐Scale Retrospective Cohort Analysis

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and allergic rhinitis (AR) are two highly prevalent airway diseases in the United States. While the coexistence of CRS and asthma is well recognized, less is known about the development of new‐onset asthma in CRS, particularly in the context of comorbid AR. This study assessed the impact of CRS and AR on

Interleukin‐5, Eosinophils, and Interleukin‐5 Pathway Inhibitors in Eosinophilic Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Interlukin‐5 (IL‐5) plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) by promoting eosinophil differentiation, activation, and survival. We present here a typical case of EGPA in which treatment with IL‐5 pathway inhibitors is prescribed, showing to be beneficial for the patient.
