A new chisel for nasal septum osteotomy in craniofacial surgery is reported. With the aid of a guide wire, the cranial base is completely protected from inadvertent penetration. The direction of osteotomy can be changed because of the chisel's central fenestration, even if placed incorrectly at the beginning.

Deformation of nasal septum during nasal trauma
The Laryngoscope, 2010AbstractBackground:Injury to the nasal septum is commonly found in most nasal fractures. The nasal septum deforms and crumples, leading to nasal deviation and internal nasal obstruction.Aim:This study aims to identify the main areas of high stress concentration when a dynamic anteroposterior load is applied to the nasal tip, simulating nasal trauma. Nasal breathing is the normal path of respiration in human beings. Nasal airway passage accounts for approximately half of the total airway resistance and this resistance is required for optimal respiratory physiology. The nasal airway is composed of two nasal cavities, each with a medial and a lateral wall as well as a floor.

The nasal septum is the partition that divides the nose into right and left nasal cavities. It is a composite of bony and cartilaginous contributions and is usually deviated out of the midline to some degree. Remarkably, a significant clinical deviation may be present without associated nasal symptoms.

Leiomyoma of nasal cavity is an extremely rare and unusual benign mass that uncommonly arises from the nasal septum. These are vascular or nonvascular masses of myogenic origin. We present a rare case of leiomyoma arising from the nasal septum and discuss its management using KTP 532 laser.
