A climatological overview of surface currents in the Arabian Gulf with special reference to the Exclusive Economic Zone of Qatar

International Journal of Climatology, Volume 44, Issue 13, Page 4677-4693, 15 November 2024.
The climatological analysis reveals the formation of three persistent eddies in the Arabian Gulf which are induced by the Iranian Coastal Current and by the opposing effect of shamal winds. The study also identifies interannual variability in surface current speeds in Qatar waters in connection with ENSO and IOD.
