CHARACTERISTICS OF TERMITES SUBFAMILY Nasutitermitinae (Isoptera, Termitidae) ON SIMEULUE ISLAND [PDF]

Mutual use of trail-following chemical cues by a termite host and its inquiline. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Termite nests are often secondarily inhabited by other termite species ( = inquilines) that cohabit with the host. To understand this association, we studied the trail-following behaviour in two Neotropical species, Constrictotermes cyphergaster ...

Diet composition of an escaped captive‐born southern tamandua (Tamandua tetradactyla) in a nonnative habitat in Asia

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2022
Studies on the role of natural predatory instincts in captive‐born mammalian myrmecophagy are rare. Consequently, researchers rely extensively on case reports to learn more about the contexts in which predatory behavior occurs among such animals. In this

Coleoptera Larval Fauna Associated with Termite Nests (Isoptera) with Emphasis on the “Bioluminescent Termite Nests” from Central Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, Volume 2010, Issue 1, 2010., 2010
Beetle larvae that inhabit termite nests present modifications that allow them to cohabitate with the termites. Some are physogastric and bear special glands and different setae all over their bodies, whereas others are not physogastric.

The nature of alarm communication in Constrictotermes cyphergaster (Blattodea: Termitoidea: Termitidae): the integration of chemical and vibroacoustic signals [PDF]

open access: yesBiology Open, 2015
Alarm signalling is of paramount importance to communication in all social insects. In termites, vibroacoustic and chemical alarm signalling are bound to operate synergistically but have never been studied simultaneously in a single species.

Terpenos em cupins do gênero Nasutitermes (Isoptera, Termitidae, Nasutitermitinae)

open access: yesQuimica Nova, 2014
The chemical composition of the front gland of termites has been studied for over 40 years. The genus Nasutitermes, considered the most evolved of the Termitidae family, has a peculiarity that sets it apart from the others: a caste of soldiers that carry

Termite (Isoptera) Diversity in a Gallery Forests Relict in the Colombian Eastern Plains [PDF]

open access: yesSociobiology, 2017
Termites are a key group for the dynamics of gallery forests in the Colombian Orinoco region, but have been little studied. Richness and relative abundance of termites found in protected gallery forest fragments within commercial forest plantations were ...

The complete mitochondrial genome of Nasutitermes tiantongensis Zhou et Xu, 1993 (Isoptera: Termitidae: Nasutitermitinae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2023
Nasutitermes tiantongensis belongs to Nasutitermitinae and its mitochondrial genome was determined in this study. It consisted of 13 PCGs, 22 tRNAs, 2 rRNAs, and an A + T-rich control region, and its length was 15824 bp.

First record of Ereymatermes rotundiceps (Termitidae: Nasutitermitinae) as inquiline of Embiratermes neotenicus (Termitidae: Syntermitinae) in the Colombian Amazon

open access: yesActa Amazonica, 2022
We report, for the first time, the presence of the termite Ereymatermes rotundiceps Constantino, 1991 as an inquiline of the termite Embiratermes neotenicus (Holmgren, 1906) in the Colombian Amazon, and provide new morphometric information on the species.
