Interspecific variation in defense secretions of malaysian termites from the genusNasutitermes (Isoptera, nasutitermitinae)

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1989
The defense secretions of five species of MalaysianNasutitermes,N. longinasus, N. matangensis, N, havilandi, N. johoricus, andNasutitermes species 01, are compared.N. longinasus andN. species 01 provide trinervitene alcohols,N. havilandi mainly tricyclic trinervitene and tetracyclic kempane alcohols and acetates, whereasN.

Isolation and characterization of microsatellite markers in Labiotermes labralis (Isoptera, Termitidae, Nasutitermitinae)

Molecular Ecology Notes, 2006
AbstractWe report here on the development of six polymorphic microsatellite loci for Labiotermes labralis. This soil‐feeding species is restricted to the Neotropical rainforest and then could represent a major candidate for being a bio‐indicator of anthropic disturbance resulting in the forest fragmentation.

The distribution of intestinal bacteria and cellulase activity in the harvester termiteTrinervitermes trinervoides (Nasutitermitinae)

Insectes Sociaux, 1973
The distribution of cellulase activity in the guts of workers of the termiteT. trinervoides was investigated. Approximately 70% of the total activity was found in the midgut and about 40% oif this occurs in the midgut wall. The appearance and distribution of gut bacteria is described.

THE AUSTRALIAN GENERA OF THE SUBULITERMES BRANCH OF THE NASUTITERMITINAE (ISOPTERA: TERMITIDAE)

Australian Journal of Entomology, 1984
AbstractThe gut structure and the imago‐worker mandibles of the Australian species included in the Subulitermes branch of the Nasutitermitinae clearly define their relationships. Macrosubulitermes perlevis (Hill) and Termes insignitus (Hill) are transferred to Australitermes Emerson; Macrosubulitermes Emerson and Australitermes are redefined, and ...

Obtusitermes monomorphus, a new termite species (Isoptera: Termitidae: Nasutitermitinae) from Panama

Zootaxa
Obtusitermes monomorphus sp. nov. is described from the monomorphic soldier and worker castes. The two described congeners, O. panamae (Snyder, 1924) and O. formosulus Cuezzo and Cancello, 2009 both have dimorphic soldiers and workers. It is now demonstrated that the major worker hindgut of all three Obtusitermes species are unique among other termite ...

Australian Nasutitermitinae: Phylogenetics, Evolution, and Biodiversity

2015
The Nasutitermitinae is a termite subfamily within the family Termitidae that contains 596 species in 77 genera, distributed globally. The group is characterised by the presence of soldiers with a pointed snout at the front of their heads, known as a nasus, which they use to spray chemicals at predators, as well as highly reduced or absent mandibles. Caste biology and behaviour of Bulbitermes sarawakensis (Isoptera, Nasutitermitinae) in Malaysia

2004
Morphometrics, caste composition and behaviour were studied in Bulbitermes sarawakensis (Isoptera; Nasutitermitinae) in Malaysia. Morphometric studies displayed two larval stages, a presoldier and a soldier caste, two worker castes and different nymphal stages. Four different nymphs with long wings and two with wing pads were found. The function of the
