Like many Scots, I find defining my nationality difficult. If I look at my passport, I see that I am a British subject, resident in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, part of the European Union. From a legal point of view, this is correct. Nowhere on my passport does it mention what I consider my nationality: Scottish.
