Halide‐Dependent Photoluminescence and Heavy‐Atom Effects in Low‐Melting Organic–Inorganic Manganese Halides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two pyridinium‐based ionic liquid templated hybrid manganese halides, (C4Py)2[MnCl4] and (C4Py)2[MnBr4], display similar bulk structures but show significantly different photoluminescence behaviors due to the bromine heavy‐atom effect. Their stable local Mn environments remain intact even in the molten state, allowing applications such as luminescence ...

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.

Resilient Health Systems and National Security

open access: yesNational Security: A Journal of the National Defence University-Kenya
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed critical vulnerabilities in both global and national health systems. It underscored the intricate relationship between public health and national security, emphasising the need for robust preparedness frameworks. This study examined how inefficiencies in the medical supply chain could impact Kenya's national security and ...

Analysis of National Security Advisory System in True Communication of National Security Issues

open access: yesInternational Journal of Politics and Security
The media has an influence on the stages of national security policy formulation and decision-making. In this context, the national security advisory system is also effective in policy adaptation. National security is inherently filled with case studies as part of a broader whole.

Economic Backwardness in Security Perspective [PDF]

open access: yes
Modern political economies are distinguished from each other by the institutions that mediate actors’ interactions, falling somewhere along a spectrum between pure market and non-market mechanisms. But how did these institutions originally emerge?

Robust Polymer Hydrogels Improve Electric‐Fish‐Inspired Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electric‐fish‐inspired hydrogel batteries based on ion‐concentration gradients offer an attractive route to soft power sources; however, the poor mechanical properties of existing hydrogels limit device assembly and performance. Here, we report poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether acrylate hydrogels that enable ion‐gradient batteries composed of

Reeingeeniring of the National Security System

open access: yes, 2019
The transformation of any area of our life and society is the direction in which time, space, changes in technology, demography, environment, law and many others are guided by each of us. The national security system is an area that occupies an extremely important place of activity within the country.

Metachromatic Butterfly Bile Pigments for Multi‐Level Optical Security Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐derived optical security materials are manufactured by embedding butterfly‐based pigments in polymer films. Tunable color and fluorescence responses arise from concentration‐controlled metachromasy, enabling spatially encoded patterns with distinct visible, UV‐active, and spectral signatures.
