INJURY-ASSOCIATED HYPOTHERMIA: AN ANALYSIS OF THE 2004 NATIONAL TRAUMA DATA BANK
Shock, 2005Severe injury and shock are frequently associated with abnormalities in patient body temperature. Substantial increases in mortality have been associated with profound hypothermia, especially below 35 degrees C. The purpose of this study was to further characterize the impact of hypothermia in a large dataset of trauma patients.

Renal and Extrarenal Predictors of Nephrectomy from the National Trauma Data Bank
Journal of Urology, 2006The kidney is injured in 1.4% to 3.0% of all trauma cases. The management of renal injuries is controversial, as reflected in regional and institutional variations in treatment preferences. Using a national trauma database we identified independent risk factors for nephrectomy. The population was selected from the National Trauma Data Bank, a voluntary ...

Pediatric Penetrating Trauma Volume and Patient Outcome: A National Trauma Data Bank Study
Journal of Surgical ResearchFirearm-related injuries have become the leading cause of death for US children. Although a "volume-outcome" relationship is well-established in adults, it is less understood in pediatric penetrating trauma. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between trauma center volume and patient outcomes in pediatric penetrating injuries.Utilizing the ...
