Biodiversity and Conservation, 2008
The once extensive native forests of New Zealand’s central North Island are heavily fragmented, and the scattered remnants are now surrounded by a matrix of exotic pastoral grasslands and Pinus radiata plantation forests. The importance of these exotic habitats for native biodiversity is poorly understood.

Native forest monitoring : tracking changes in native forest remnants.
2016Native forest monitoring is undertaken by forest companies as a requirement for certification of their forests by groups such as the FSC. It is important for companies to be able to track changes that are occurring to native forest remnants that are often spread throughout their operational plantation forest estate.

Mosaics of Exotic Forest Plantations and Native Forests as Habitat of Pumas
Environmental Management, 2010There is a general lack of information on the impact of forest plantations and the presence of urban settlements on populations of resource-demanding species such as large felids. To partially address this problem, a project study was conducted to find out whether mosaics of forest plantations and native vegetation can function as an adequate habitat ...

Native Forests and Agriculture in Salta (Argentina)
The Journal of Environment & Development, 2011Despite much deforestation in the past, the northwestern Argentinean province of Salta still has more than 6 million hectares of native forests. Land use conversion for agriculture is threatening these forests and the survival of indigenous populations and small-scale farmers. In November 2007, Argentina’s National Congress passed a law to regulate the

Insects in Native and Alien Forests in Australia
2018The taxonomic and ecological variety of forest insects, and their intricate relationships to the functioning and integration of forest ecosystems, encompasses many different trophic interactions and ecological contexts. These were summarised broadly, with emphasis on the temperate region forestry of Europe and North America, by Dajoz (2000), whose wide-
