Amidase‐Catalyzed Desorption of CO2 Captured in Aqueous Monoethanolamine (MEA) Solutions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
CO2 is captured in aqueous monoethanolamine (MEA) sorbents as carbamate and bicarbonate/carbonate. The subsequent desorption for storage or utilization is energy‐intensive, and this is a major impediment to industrial carbon dioxide removal (CDR) processes. The desorption process can be promoted by enzymes that catalyze the dissociation of distinct CO2‐

Using dung beetles to evaluate the conversion effects from native to introduced pasture in the Brazilian Pantanal

open access: yes, 2016
The Pantanal is the largest Neotropical seasonal freshwater wetland on Earth. Extensive livestock production has been the dominant economic land use activity of the Pantanal, where approximately 80 % of the land is occupied by native and introduced ...

Chiral‐Induced Spin Selectivity Effect in a 1 nm Thin 1,1′‐Binaphthyl‐2,2′‐diyl Hydrogenphosphate Self‐Assembled Monolayer on Nickel Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled monolayer (≈0.9 nm) of an axially chiral binaphthol phosphoric acid derivative on a ferromagnetic Ni/NiOx substrate shows chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) magnetoresistance of 50%–80%. This thermally and chemically robust functional stack shows the way towards practical spintronic devices based on the CISS effect.

Cattle on Native Bluestem Pasture

open access: yes, 1951
Graft left and Marshall Jordan, SCS technician, observing native bluestem pasture which Graft has brought back through periodic rest. This pasture was rested from Aug. 1, 1949 to Aug. 1, 1950, then grazed until Dec.

Robust and Compatible Ferroelectric Memories with Polycrystalline TiO2 Channel for 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Robust and monolithic 3D compatible ferroelectric memories are realized using the polycrystalline TiO2 channel‐based FeFET. The review covers physical mechanisms of the TiO2 channel FeFET, quantitative benchmarking, and advanced planar/vertical architectures for monolithic 3D integration based on HfO2‐TiO2 gate stack, offering a roadmap for reliable ...

Grazing Use of Native Pastures by Beef Cattle in Japan : Recent Researches on Plant-animal Interactions in Native Pastures

open access: yesGrazing Use of Native Pastures by Beef Cattle in Japan : Recent Researches on Plant-animal Interactions in Native Pastures
application/pdf Understandings of plant-animal interactions are vital for adequate control of vegetation and animal conditions and sustainable use of the natural resources in grazing systems. In this paper, studies of plant-animal interactions that were carried out in native pastures at the Kawatabi Field Science Center (KFSC) in Tohoku University were

Cows on Badly Overgrazed Native Pasture

open access: yes, 1973
Photograph of two cows on an overgrazed native pasture, with one reaching through fence to eat. The back of the photograph proclaims, "Cow on overgrazed native pasture reaches thru fence to satisfy hunger.

Zinc Sulfide Enabling Remarkable Surface Passivation of Crystalline Silicon

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Polycrystalline ZnS films capped by Al2O3 provide outstanding surface passivation performance. The excellent lattice agreement between c‐Si and ZnS combined with a hydrogenation step result in extremely low interface state density (≈ 1×1010 cm−2 eV−1) and recombination current pre‐factor (1.0 fA/cm2), revealing a new passivation strategy for ...

Physical soil stability under different management of extensive pasture in haplumbrept soils /
Estabilidade física de solo sob diferentes manejos de pastagem extensiva em cambissolo

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2010
In the dairy cattle production of the small region of São João Del Rei (MG - Brazil) it is common to manage extensive native pastures with annual fires on low natural fertility Haplumbrept soils.

Effects of spring pasture burning, pasture deworming, and grain supplementation on performance of stocker steers grazing native Flinthills pasture

open access: yesKansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports, 2006
A grazing study was conducted using 445 crossbred beef steers (496 lb) to determine the benefits of feeding a grain-based supplement on burned and unburned native pasture, with and without a Safe-Guard (fenbendazole) treatment while on pasture. Treatments consisted of mineral only, mineral with SafeGuard treatment at day 29, and a supplement based on ...
