Natural variations in isotopic abundances of silicon
Journal of Geophysical Research, 1961Measurements of natural variations in isotopic abundance ratios of silicon are reported. A maximum natural range of 5.3 per mil in Si/sup 30/ is obsenved to date. Coexisting biotite, quartz, and feldspars from some specimens of igneous rock from the Yosemite region differ by as much as 3 per mil; in other grossly similar igneous rocks from the same ...

Natural variability in abundance of prevalent soybean proteins
Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, 2010Soybean is an inexpensive source of protein for humans and animals. Genetic modifications (GMO) to soybean have become inevitable on two fronts, both quality and yield will need to improve to meet increasing global demand. To ensure the safety of the crop for consumers it is important to determine the natural variation in seed protein constituents as ...

The Nature and Abundance of LYα Clouds in Voids
2003I devise a method to separate low-z Lyα absorbers into void, and non-void clouds. The strong difference between void and non-void EW distribution functions enables a phenomenological definition of voids. I find the filling fraction of voids in the universe is f v = 0.86-0.11 +0.05, greater than voids defined by galaxies (f v ≲ 0.5).
